Are you in your late 20's early 30's and feeling like everything is in your life is falling apart?...Welcome to your Saturn Return!
In horoscopic astrology, a Saturn return is an astrological transit that occurs when the planet Saturn returns to the same place in the sky that it occupied at the moment of a person's birth. The Saturn return hits in the late twenties, and its impact is felt into the early thirties.
The purpose of Saturn Return gives us of big wake-up call. Saturn is the planet of Karma and is all about learning life's lessons; in keeping with its role as the Great Teacher. Saturn is a task master and commands us to get to work and to work hard. Discipline and taking personal responsibility are important to this planet.
In our late 20's we are coming out of that time of youthful coasting through life and are really stepping into adulthood. This tough period in our lives is designed to strip us back to raw truth and test our foundation. Saturn causes a mini earthquake to the foundations, and enables you the opportunity to shake off what's not the 'real' you. It helps you discover an unshakable core, the heart centre where you soul purpose resides, and build its strength. This gives you a good basis for a lifetime of growth. It helps is to identify what aspects of our life need urgent attention so we can truly create a strong foundation. It's a crossroads period, when life-altering decisions are made.
This is why so many of us experience huge struggles and hardships doing your time of Saturn Return. It shakes up our entire structure and you often find that during this time you may experience depression and anxiety as your world shifts, you friendships and relationship status changes, you change careers or are made redundant/retrenched and probably move house. If you are like me you may even get this all at once. I found myself thinking 'I have to get through this or I am just going to die..'. a bit dramatic but at the time, its how I felt! and its natural to have these feeling during this period. It is a period of 'death' of the old you, so a new and beautiful you can emerge. (read more about my personal story here)
Sometimes we make life choices before we really know who we are. At the Saturn return, some of these choices are revealed to be out of sync with our true destiny. Saturn is simply the instigator of change, all meant to lead you toward healing and a real foundation of self. The suffering occurs when we try to resist the change and I tell you when its coming at your from every angle you may find yourself trying to run and hide from it. The aim is to get used to letting go of what's not working for you. The harder you work on letting go this during your Saturn Return your transformation on the other side will be even more magnificent.
You will often experience with events that also put you face to face with your own mortality as Saturn implored us to look at the 'clock'. You start thinking about what it would take to achieve those big dreams, and with that a sense of dread at ever getting there. You start to connect to possibility again that you can create the life of your dreams and start getting serious about the discipline, clear-sight and the focus you need to make it happen, and back it up with the drive to do achieve it.
When serious Saturn overtakes your life during this hugely important initiation into adulthood, it's important to remember that 'This too shall pass.' I know the feelings of overwhelm and sadness that comes with your Saturn Return. It makes you feel like everything is crumbling around you, you feel washed up and spat out and disillusioned. But it will also be liberating as you let go of all kinds of baggage, and starting anew with a clearer sense of purpose.
'It's never too late to be who you were meant to be.'
